IITS provides technical advice to schools and offices, and also acquires IT assets, including computers, printers, IP phones, network cables and other IT peripherals, on behalf of the schools and offices as well. Part of the service also entails that IITS sees to the managed and secured disposal of retired IT assets and equipment at quarterly intervals. The service is provided as part of IITS’s Software Licence Compliance Controls and IT Security and Vulnerability Management programme. Specification
The service provided by IITS is applicable to University-owned IT assets. The service also entails that IITS provides technical advice as to the minimum IT specifications, including security tools required to be linked or connected to the University networks. Additionally, IITS is in charge of centrally managed and supervised disposal procedures through SMU’s appointed vendor, that include wiping clean of institutional data in IT equipment slated for disposal, as well as the physical removal of the IT assets or equipment from SMU premises.
